Medical Definition of GASTROEPIPLOIC ARTERY

:  either of two arteries forming an anastomosis along the greater curvature of the stomach: a :  one that is larger, arises as one of the two terminal branches of the gastroduodenal artery, and passes from right to left giving off branches to the stomach and greater omentum—called also right gastroepiploic artery b :  one that is smaller, arises as a branch of the splenic artery, and passes from left to right giving off branches to the stomach and to the greater omentum—called also left gastroepiploic artery
